The 2014 conference—hosted in partnership with Urban Land Institute Northwest and NAIOP: Commercial Real Estate and Development Association—was a huge success! King County Executive Dow Constantine kicked off the morning with his thoughtful remarks on the strengths behind King County’s growing economy. In addition to four outstanding and insightful economic forecasts for the coming year, the nearly 800 attendees got an in-depth look at the opportunities and challenges for our region’s real estate industry.

Following lunchtime remarks by Mayor Ed Murray and a video message from Senator Patty Murray, the Puget Sound Business Journal Executive of the Year Award was presented to John McAdam, F5 Networks. David Allen of McKinstry and current EDC Board Chair also presented the EDC’s Economic Development Champion Awards to John Schoettler of Amazon and Tay Yoshitani of the Port of Seattle. The keynote discussion entitled “Real Impact | Real Estate: A Key Economic Driver for the Region in 2014,” followed the award presentations and featured a conversation hour moderated by KIRO-7’s Essex Porter with representatives from Sabey Corporation, the University of Washington, Wallace Properties, Wright Runstad & Company and the Seattle Waterfront project.
